KHARKIV NATIONAL MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
Kharkiv National Medical University (KNMU) was founded in 1805 as part of the medical faculty of Kharkiv University.It is one of the oldest and leading medical higher institutions of Ukraine and the former USSR.
The university has been actively training medical students and medical specialists from all over the world since 1961. The university trains about 5000 medical students and more than 630 teachers including 17 honoured scientists work in the various faculties. More than 3,600 specialists from 86 states of Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, Middle East have graduated from the university since 1951.
KHARKIV NATIONAL MEDICAL UNIVERSITY is one of the foremost Medical Universities in Ukraine and is a prestigious and well recognized medical university in the world.
More than 2000 foreign students study in the university and more than 180 professors and assistant professors are involved in training them.
MBBS, BDS, MD, MDS, MS, NURSING degree from Kharkiv is recognized by WHO, UNESCO and in the USA, UK, EU and Australia. Students are eligible to appear in the USMLE, PLAB and AMC exams. KNMU degree is also recognized by the Medical Council of India, PMDC and the medical councils of most countries.

ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) Junior specialist program: 2 years
BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) : 4 years
Students having ADN 2 year or 3 years BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) : 2 years
This is an 8 months foundation course at the Kharkiv National Medical medical University. Foundation Year offers students a standard university entrance qualification and also an excellent base for their further academic studies. This course is specially designed for the foreign students who do not have the necessary requirements for the undergraduate programs and also it helps to enable students to bridge the gap between school and university. Foundation Studies Course offers a range of study units relating to the special subject requirements of the course the student intends to apply for. Professional development is intended to encourage student confidence and independent learning. KNMUs Foundation Year course streams include key preparatory studies aimed at specific KNMU degrees - for example, the Health Sciences stream preparing for entry into KNMUs professional degrees such as Medicine, Dentistry, Pediatrics and Pharmacy. The following subjects are taught in the foundation course: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Studies. Teacher consultation times are provided outside class time, so that along with the tutorials, each student has considerable opportunity to receive individual attention. Classes are conducted in the university as well as in our new purpose built building. Students have full use of all university resources, including all libraries, recreational facilities, accommodation, computer suites and student services.
The Kharkiv National Medical University offers post graduate studies in all medical fields. The duration of the study is 2-3 years.
The faculty of postgraduate education offers the study in 50 medical specialties at internship, mastership and clinical internship. At the department of Kharkiv National Medical University (KNMU), along with the traditional ways of teaching, there is also a module study, and a through out program of students' practice. Constantly developing base of computerized equipment gives the possibility to use modern PC know-how and world informative networks in the process of study.
Postgraduates at Kharkiv National Medical University (KNMU) are taught in English, Ukrainian and Russian languages according to the programs and curricula approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The main objective of the postgraduate training is to allow the students of medical institutions to continue their education and general practitioners to improve their skills for further certification and faculty is directed at the training and improvement of qualification and skills of specialists to master not only up-to date medical information but new modern technologies of today and tomorrow.
The Medical faculty of Kharkiv National Medical University (KNMU), together with its teaching hospitals and other health organizations in Ukraine and abroad, will provide the necessary physical and human resources to create a scholarly environment appropriate for the training of medical graduates so that they acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes to become accomplished physicians and surgeons with the highest moral and ethical standards.
The individual form of training is based on qualification characteristics, professional and position requirements, principles of realized perspective and doctor's pretensions. Detailed theoretical training is combined with learning practical skills, operative technique, and typical and complex operations.
To maintain its international role, the Medical Faculty of Kharkiv National Medical University (KNMU) intends by means of contractual arrangements with foreign countries, universities, and hospitals to train residents from other countries in its postgraduate training programs who will return to their home country upon completion of their training.
